I bought this for my wife about 20 years ago. We don't remember what kind of wood it is, but paid good money for it! It has some wear. The pad is not included. This is an antique made long ago between 1946 through 1949.
A brief history of the chair: Nichols & Stone is the oldest furniture-building company in the United States, with more than 150 years of history as a maker of fine solid-wood pieces. Note: Since the seal is in the form of a circle with "NICHOLSTONE" at the top and "ALL AMERICAN" at the bottom, the chair was dated/manufactured from January 1946 through 1949 (in 1950, the seal was changed to the one being used today.
